In 2005, Société Générale (Canada) retained Paul M. Tellier as Strategic Advisor.

Mr. Tellier’s long and distinguished career in Government and in business has been of great value to the Bank. In addition to his involvement in strategic decision-making, he provides our clients in Montreal, Toronto and Calgary with insight on a variety of subjects related to current affairs. Since 2005, Mr. Tellier contributes to Société Générale (Canada)’s growth and its positioning in strategic niches.
Among the many key positions he occupied, Mr. Tellier was Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet of the Government of Canada from 1985 to 1992. From 1992 to 2002 he was the president and chief executive officer of Canadian National Railways, completing one the most successful privatizations in the history of the country. In 2003 he became the president and chief executive officer of Bombardier Inc., a position he held until December 2004.
Mr. Tellier sits on the board of directors of Rio Tinto Alcan Inc., BCE Inc., Bell Canada, and McCain Foods Limited as well as on many community organizations. Recipient of many awards, Mr. Tellier was appointed Companion of the Order of Canada in 1993. He was chosen Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year TM in 1998 and Canada’s Most Respected CEO in 2003.
